Wet Weather Plumbing Tips

Wet Weather Plumbing Tips

10/04/2016

The month of April traditionally records one of the highest average number of rainfall days, which just under half of the month expected to see the wet stuff falling from the sky. Times of heavy rain can often highlight plumbing problems. We’re big fans of identifying these sort of problems before they become major issues, so here’s our advice:

  • Book in for a plumbing inspection. We may have mentioned this once or twice before, but regular maintenance of your home’s plumbing is the best way to keep on top of things before they become problems. The same goes for commercial premises. Having an experienced set of eyes, someone who knows what to look for, inspect your property can save you major problems (and money!) down the track.
  • Have your sewer checked. We’ve enjoyed a long, hot summer and fairly regular rainfall – ideal conditions for tree roots to grow. If you have any cracks in your sewer pipes, the roots will grow towards these to seek out the nutrients – and tree roots can grow up to three times the width of the tree’s crown! If you’ve noticed your toilet flushing action is getting a bit sluggish, we recommend you call us to have your sewer lines checked with our specialist sewer cameras.
  • Fix roof and gutter problems. Make sure your roofing gutters are clear of leaves, dirt and debris. If you’ve noticed any leaks recently – maybe you’ve got stains or paint bubbles on your ceiling, a sagging in your roof, or overflowed gutters. These need to be fixed before heavier rainfall comes.

It’s worth your time to call us and get us out to your house to give your house the once-over and check all the areas we need to check to ensure that the upcoming rainy season cause big expensive problems.
